J OB SUMMARY:

The Penn State Children?s Hospital is ranked by U.S. News & World Report as one the Best Children?s Hospital across multiple specialties. As a designated Level 1 Children?s Surgery Center, the hospital is just one of eight in the nation, and the only one in Pennsylvania, to achieve this designation through the American College of Surgeons Children?s Surgery Verification Program.

The Children?s Hospital expanded in the Fall of 2020 to help meet the needs of the children and families in Central Pennsylvania. The expansion of the Children?s Hospital provides more space for a state-of-the-art labor and delivery unit, the highest-level neonatal intensive care unit and exceptional care for children, moms and babies.

O ur 36 bed unit serves as an educational, research and health care site to specifically address the issues facing women today. Among the comprehensive areas are labor delivery recovery (LDR) rooms, Caesarean section rooms, triage beds, newborn nurseries and a transitional nursery. Types of patients include gynecology, gynecology/oncology, labor and delivery, antepartum, mother/baby couplets and transitional newborns. Nurses on this unit have the chance to participate in ongoing learning programs related to electronic fetal monitoring, neonatal resuscitation, labor support, circulating during a Caesarean section and cardiac rhythm interpretation.

M INIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Registered Nurse with a license to practice professional nursing in the state of Pennsylvania or a Registered Nurse from another state with a Temporary PA Practice Permit

6 months of experience working as a RN

P REFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Experience in Women?s Health or Labor & Delivery

P HYSICAL REQUIREMENTS*:

Able to sit occasionally; stand constantly; walk frequently.

A ble to lift/carry 0-10 lbs frequently; 11-50 lbs occasionally.

A ble to push/pull 0-20 lbs frequently; 21-75 lbs occasionally.

A ble to climb occasionally; reach constantly.

A ble to use hand for simple/firm grasping.
