Job Summary:
Functions in an advanced scrub role for operative procedures either as a CST First Assistant or as a specific specialty CST. Competent at an advanced level of practice using his or her knowledge, expertise, and involvement in professional activities to serve as a resource person for his or her patient population. Plan and execute complex daily activities including the ability to prioritize, impact the 30-minute guarantee for inpatients and 25 minutes for outpatients in turnovers (patient out to in), role model professionalism, have a working knowledge of advanced technology (i.e. navigation, daVinci), and make significant contributions in reducing cost per case (i.e. impact preference card accuracy, choice or supplies, suture, etc). Serves in the role of preceptor for students and new hires.
Required Qualifications:
- Require a minimum of one (1) year in CST II role at SMHCS.- Require current Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) certification from a nationally recognized certifying body.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prefer broad knowledge of specialty procedures, instrumentation and equipment.- Prefer demonstrated ability to communicate both orally and in writing.- Prefer working knowledge of computers.
