Responsibilities

• Responsible for assisting the surgeon in the sterile field according to AORN Standards of Practice Recommendations
• Perform scrub duties in varied specialties/procedures
• Ensure that the case has the necessary sterile supplies and equipment for that surgeon and procedure
• Assist with Circulating duties under direct supervision of the RN circulator assigned to the patient
• Ensure adherence to Hospital, State and departmental policies and procedures

Qualifications

Job Requirements

• Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or NCCT - Certification
• Annually complete 15 hours of continuing education to remain qualified to practice as a surgical technologist in the State of NJ
• Basic Life Support (BLS)

Preferred Job Requirements

• High School or GED equivalent
• Graduate of Surgical Technologist Program
• Minimum of one (1) year as a Certified Surgical Technologist
