Perinatal Clinical Nurse Educator: Clinical Competencies and Education Guide

The clinical nurse educator is an expert nurse clinician who applies the principles, theories, and concepts of learning and teaching to facilitate the cognitive, affective, and psychomotor skill development of licensed and unlicensed clinicians. Clinical nurse educators collaborate across health care organizations to facilitate orientation and onboarding, continuing education, ongoing competency management, and professional development of clinicians. The clinical nurse educator also uses the principles of evidence-based practice and research translation to optimize the quality of health care experiences and patient outcomes.
